Pascucci

Thanks to my office location, I've visited Pascucci quite a few times. And I say this because had it not been for my office, I doubt I would ever come to Al Nahyan Camp. However this place is an upcoming commercial area in Abu Dhabi and I'm sure would be brilliant in a few years.

Though the 1st time I visited Pascucci was because my friend was really excited on seeing the Pascucci board as she had tried this place in Bangalore and had good things to say about it.

Even though I'm a person who loves experimenting with food and I like trying out new things. The Margarita pizza here is so good that I have to eat it on every visit. This is by far the best Margarita Pizza I've had, it's fresh and over-flowing with cheese, just the way I like it.

They also serve special complimentary fresh bread here, which tastes perfect with the Lurpak (butter) that comes along with it.

I've also tried the Alfredo Chicken & Mushroom Pasta, which is very average. The chicken was very well cooked. However the pasta was extremely bland.

Pascucci is a nice place to sip on some coffee as well. They also give you this complimentary iced coffee shot after your meal here, which could lead to a brain freeze. But it's totally worth it.

The ambiance of Pascucci is very cozy however its seat definitely aren't. The sofas here are decent but the low height-ed chairs here makes it almost impossible to sit on.

The staff is friendly and welcoming. It's pricing is on the higher side, but it works out fine when you're in a larger group.

I would definitely recommend this place and its margarita pizza.

My Rating - 3.5

De Thali, Teri Muuchi Kaali.

Hello everybody,
As promised, I shall be doing reviews more often now. And the funny thing is after coming all the way to the Middle East my first review is about an Indian restaurant; yes I’m weird like that. Also since I'm weird, forgive me for the retarded blog post title.
So after a crazy Thursday night, I and two friends decided to go for lunch to a new Indian restaurant called “De Thali’ that we had heard a lot about from friends & family.
This is located at Madinat Zayed Shopping Centre which is a mall I visited after almost 6 – 7 years and it’s just the same. It’s like an indoor ‘hill road’. However, the new extensions food court is pretty huge and has given way to many new restaurants.

Now coming to the restaurant, De Thali is done up in a really peppy manner, it’s a very young yet sober environment. The staff is very well trained and friendly.
I’m sure most of you are expecting me to review a Thali now, but I actually did not have an appetite for that, but they have several options for Thalis, which I shall try out soon. We ordered for a Chicken Patiala, Chicken Angarey Kebab, Paneer Masala Roll, Parathas and a lime-mint drink.
The Chicken Patiala – This was basically Chicken cooked with a cashnewnut paste and masalas. It wasn’t spicy however. It was flavoured with kasoori methi and served topped with an egg omelette. Unlike most times, thankfully this tasted as fancy as it appeared to be.

The Chicken Patiala

However the Parathas that came along with the Chicken Patiala were very thick and not eatable. A roomali roti or garlic naan would have been the right combination.
Moving on to the Angarey Kebab which was boneless chicken cubes marinated with green and red chilli, garlic and spices and was cooked in the Tandoor. This was quite spicy, yet wasn't as juicy as it could have been. However it’s worth a try.

                                                             Chicken Angarey Kebab

There isn’t much to describe in a Paneer Masala Roll because it is exactly what its name reads. It is highly recommended for vegetarians. Also non vegetarians you could try this too when you need a break from the usual.
Lastly, the lime-mint drink was a refreshing cooler, the perfect drink for the current weather. It also made us forget about the hangover we were complaining of.

Thali Pathy? This is something I would say.

The two gorgeous girls who accompanied me for lunch

Talking about the price structure, it defines the tagline ‘sasta & tikau’ very affordable for the good quantity they serve. This place reminded me of Urban Tadka (Mumbai) It’s not as good but close.
For all those who don’t know this is owned by the Top NRI Businessman ‘Yousif Ali’s’ daughter, after the success of Bloomsbury (The cupcake shop) she decided to open this as well as another Indian restaurant called ‘Pepper-Mill’ whose food is similar but is a more classier and expensive place. This has turned out to be a big hit amongst locals.
Honestly I believe she shall soon take over the Restaurant sector in Abu Dhabi and I wish her good luck for the same, hopefully she brings in more new cuisines here.
On that note, I shall end this post with this soothing song.

Happy Anniversary to Me.

Hello Everybody, or anybody (Since it's been forever I've put up a post & I doubt anyone is even following the blog anymore, sigh!) But I shall continue to write anyway and convince a few people to read it.

So, "The Anorexic Hog" completed a year a few days back and thankfully to my good metabolism rate I continue to remain pretty much anorexic and also quite the hog. Now the filmy person that I'm, I shall act like I'm at Filmfare and getting an award and give a speech thanking everyone who encouraged me with this blog :D

So to start with, a big thank you to Grillopolis https://twitter.com/grill_o_polis which was the 1st restaurant I reviewed on my blog and whose lavish buffet inspired me to start this blog.

Secondly, I would like to thank everybody who accompanied me for a meal at all the places I visited/reviewed.

I know I've been the most in-active blogger EVER, but that's because I had a prolonged confused phase in my life, and I wasn't too sure where I was actually to reside, but the good news is that, it has been sorted and now I'm currently based in Abu Dhabi (UAE) & here after almost all my reviews shall be of places in UAE.

Lastly, I have a few new things planned for my blog & I can't wait to start working on it. Also I promise to be active on my blog now on-wards and make your mouths water with the 'mind-blasting' food in UAE.

Thanks! x

Friday Friday, gotta get down on Friday.

Okay I’m most likely not going to have anyone reading this post thanks to my obnoxious post title, but what the heck.

Last Saturday we kept shifting from Citrus to Jughead’s at Veera Desai back and forth and finally landed up at Thank God It’s Friday – Infiniti Mall (Andheri)

So a friend and I decided to grab a light meal at TGIF and thought of skipping appetizers and calling directly for a main course each. We looked through their wide selection of food on their menu cards and honestly were rather confused as almost everything sounded fancy. After much pondering, we ended up ordering for a Sizzling Chicken and Cheese and the Chicken Chimichanga.

There was also a football match that my friend wanted to watch so we requested them to change the channel on their TV, instead they rolled down their big screen and put on the match for us, so much win J

Coming back to the food, the Sizzling Chicken and Cheese was like a dream dish for a cheese lover like me. However this isn't advisable for someone looking to lose weight. This is basically a garlic marinated chicken breast over melted Colby and Jack cheese served alongside their special melted cheese mashed potatoes. The chicken was very well cooked and had the right amount of flavor in it. This turned out to be an absolute treat.

Moving on to our next dish, that is the Chicken Chimichanga, this is a flour tortilla filled with diced chicken breast, green chilies and cheese. It is topped with Ranchero sauce and melted Monterrey Jack and Colby cheese. It is served with sour cream, black lentils and rice. Just by reading the description, we were all excited and so we were really looking forward to this and thankfully this did not disappoint us either. Similar to the Sizzling Chicken and Cheese, even this was an overload of cheese, not as much but quite a bit. The tortillas were crispy and the chicken was slightly spicy which was in its favor. The rice on the under hand was slightly bland, but we chose to ignore that since we were overwhelmed with what we had already. Also we were really full, thanks to their good quantity.

By now it’s not hard to judge that we loved the food, but apart from that we also loved how friendly the staff here was and their DJ who played really good music while we enjoyed our meal.

The ambiance of the place is also quite good, it’s fun and young. They have a separate bar area too.

However the prices are tad bit expensive. We spent almost Rs. 1200 (Inclusive of Tax) for these two dishes.

Lastly we also were asked to fill some online feedback form which would avail us to a Rs.500 off on our next visit in the same month, but sadly I misplaced the coupon L

Overall it was a great experience, shall visit the place soon to try out their other interesting dishes.

P.S They have a superb dinner deal/offer you can read about in the below image. Photo courtesy – Zomato

Ending 2012 in Goa

Hey Everyone, wishing you all a very Happy New Year, hope you all enjoyed the festive season and cherished on some brilliant food because I sure did thanks to my Goa trip.

Before I start with anything else, let me tell you all how I absolutely love Goa, this place never seems to disappoint. It’s a completely different atmosphere and I couldn't be happier about starting 2013 in Goa.

Coming to the food, honestly almost everything I ate in every meal is worth talking about, but I shall high light on a few things I totally loved.

One just can’t complete a Goa trip without visiting Infantaria ( located on the Baga – Calanguate road) for breakfast/ lunch. Be that for their amazing milkshakes, huge variety of food, desserts or their amazing deals on beer and lots more while your dining with the best crowd in Goa.

Photos of three of my favorite dishes at Infantaria.

I don't have photos of the Cheesecake and Dutch Truffle Milkshake, but YOU have to try it, its beyond awesome.

Oh also don’t forget to munch on the Prawn Rissois from their bakery section while you wait for a table at Infantaria, since waiting here is quite common, but let that not dishearten you since it’s totally worth the wait.

Post sunburn when the traffic at Candolim had got slightly better we decided to go that side and visited a place called Stone House where we had something called Prawn Pappadum which is basically fried papad stuffed with prawns. Also had the bacon and mussels spaghetti which was a good treat to the stomach.

Apart from all that since we were staying at Baga, we managed to visit Brittos for breakfast which is another must when you are at Goa, but sadly there were no Pancakes which is what we were actually looking forward to. However we had the Extra Cheese Omlette and the English breakfast platter which were terrific.

And lastly if you love Prawns Kohliwada, you have to try this at the Anthonies Shack at Baga.

As I wrote about all this and went through the photos my mouth started to water and my stomach began to make funny noises, because that’s how amazing the food in this place is, I can’t wait to go back.

Hola Amigos!

Amigos! So around few days back I read a post on twitter about a new Mexican restaurant opening up at Versova and was thrilled and couldn't wait to try it out and managed to visit the place one week after its opening.

We went there around 7ish so none of us were really hungry, so we decided to go with a light meal and called for a Braised Chicken Quesadilla and Chile Re-lino - Spiced Chicken which came along with Lime Cilantro rice and French fries.

First came in the Chicken Quesadillas which looked and tasted nothing more than Parotha with stuffed minced chicken and the white sauce that came along complimented it well by tasting like Dahi. In short a complete disaster.

This is not the actual picture, but this is something
                                                               what is  looked like.

And then came in the Chile Re-lino - Spiced Chicken with the Lime Cilantro rice and french fries. The only thing that actually did stand out were the french fries, which were crispy and Masala-e-Daar as we Indians would like it, but of course there was nothing Mexican about it.The spiced chicken had barely any chicken honestly and it was honestly a pain to even eat it. And as far as the Lime Cilantro rice is concerned, very average. Well so we were glad that we restricted our order.

Chile Re-lino - Spiced Chicken with Lime Cilantro-rice
                                                                  and French Fries

Talking about the ambiance, its hard to decide if it looks more like a Goa shack or a Diwali party (thanks to the over dosage of Diwali lights)The music also wasn't good. So it does not really give you a fine dining experience.

The service however was rather good, the waiters were friendly and alert. But again maybe that's because the place was empty.

Our total bill for the two came to Rs. 650 with tax. I would rather spend that much and have a good Mexican meal at Sammy Sosa instead and would recommend you to do the same.

The bar rates are decent for a dine in place and on the same lines as their competitor next door, WTF.

I would rate this place a 1/5

Hello There.

Hey Guys! I'm a terrible person for being away for so long from the blog that I love so much. I honestly have no excuses of being busy because I very frankly was doing nothing but being lazy which is why I was missing for this long.

I have a few half done reviews which somehow I don’t feel like posting now because the content has lost its charm. One of them was Starbucks, which then was the new thing in town.  Just to give you a quick feedback about the place,  I did not fancy the food too much, they had gone over board with the indianisation of it. Though the White Chocolate Mocha was absolutely brilliant. It’s priced sensibly, the staff seemed quite confused since I visited the place on the very 2nd day that it opened up at Oberoi Mall, but hopefully that has changed now. Do let me know what you guys thought about it btw.

Also right after that I visited Abu Dhabi where I went ga-ga over the food as usual, I almost had everything that I had recommended on my Abu Dhabi post. Though my pick for this trip would be Cho Gao which is located at Crowne Plaza.  They serve brilliant Chinese/ Thai food.

I also want to talk about a not so popular place called ‘The Bubblegum Route’ – Andheri , that I went to right after my trip to catch up with a few friends over a glass of beer. They have happy hours on till 8 pm which they extend to about 8.30 ish :D I had no plans of dining there but got a little hungry so called for the Thai Green Chicken + Rice here and was shocked to see how less the quantity was, which led me to almost scream at the waiter to call for the manager, now I was all set to argue with him but before I could say anything, he said ma’am I will get you more, to which I couldn't say anything :) After about ten minutes he got me exactly double of what was already present  and we finally tried it, I absolutely loved it. Now this isn’t a place you really expect too much out of Thai food, but these guys did a good  job. Also I have heard their No Nonsense Burger is really good. Its priced quite reasonably btw.  Just don’t forget to ask for extra the next time you are there ;)

                                                             Thai Green Chicken

Also lastly a quick mention about Alfredos – Andheri , I used to really like this place until I visited it last week to find a cockroach fall on my hand and a dead fly on the table which totally creep ed me out. This place is a sure no-no from now on. I would also appreciate you commenting about a similar experience you may have had else where :D

I think with that I’m done with my very random post. Just thought of all that I did for the past 2 months and jotted down whatever came to my mind.

P.S I’m thrilled to be back :D
